A new EC Regulation and Council Decision will together start to have an impact on New Approach directives from 1 January 2010 (only just over a year away). They will also have wider impact. The Regulation applies directly to Member States without the need for transposing into national legislation, and sets out new requirements, among other things, for market surveillance. The Decision will apply to directives revised after 1 January 2010 and will have the effect of bringing more coherence to future legislation. Brian will describe the legislation, and its likely impact on manufacturers, importers and enforcers. A review of updated EMC standards and proposed changes to CISPR 11. Steve Hayes, TRL. This talk is divided into two sections comprising of a review of updated EMC standards and CISPR 11. The first section will review the latest standards published in the OJEU for the EMC directive and hence provide a presumption of compliance to the directive. It will explore some of the less common standards and provide an overview of their requirements. CISPR 11 is an important international EMC emissions standard since many industrial product standards make direct reference to it. The standard is currently being revised and updated. It is envisaged that it will be published as Edition 5 shortly. This part of the talk will highlight some of the major proposed changes. Tims Torments - a sideways, light-hearted look at the world of EMC. Tim Haynes, Selex Tim will give up to seven short presentations that take a non-conventional look at EMC matters.
