We had a thread about this a short time back, which I just went back and read
but it dawns on me that an important question wasn’t asked. Do these low
power transmitters require a harmonized frequency throughout EU and does such
a thing truly exist or is it a matter of changing frequencies in various
countries? Is that base on some upper level transmit power, or if it radiates
intentionally at all it will at some harmonized frequency(ies). I made a quick
look at the ETSI website and it implies certain harmonize frequencies but I
could find what I was looking for.

It is a commercial device but will be used in and around hospitals by staff to
record notes etc. I want to treat this as a computer rather than a medical
accessory. Its useful in the data collection for patients but it doesn’t aid
in the treatment etc. but I will take the risk planning ideas from the medical
directive by insuring compliance with R&TTE and medical standard EMC limits
and tests.

But are there other obvious issues I’m overlooking here. I’m first going
to get through North America and Western EU before I worry about China and
other CB “outliers” for the moment.

Essentially commercial wireless transcribing under EN55022, EN55024, RTTE, EN
60601 since I can’t control other than via warnings that the equipment
shouldn’t use it around patient connected equipment etc. I haven’t seen
the actual transmitter or specifications yet – but they should be less
powerful than cell phones which seem to get carried around the hospital with
abandon.

Are the harmonized frequencies listed in the EU journal?
