Robert,

There area a couple of other questions that need to be answered
before the decision can be made as to whether or not UL94V0 applies.

The question presumably arises because a need for some sort of
certification exists. If so, define if this is a consumer or IT device to
determine the proper standard. Perhaps the battery is quite large, like a
Li battery in an auto which would have lots of stored energy.

The most common IEC/EN/CSA/UL product standards define the needed
level of fire protection for plastics (HB/V1/V0) based upon the fire risk in
the product. This gives a basis for making the choice as to whether UL94V0
is required.

If you take a new age greenie approach you would not want to use any
of the usual FR materials in the plastic to avoid damage to the planet.

Without all the needed info it appears that you have a couple of
paths. One is to meet the technical requirements specified in some standard
that seems to apply (certification probably applies). The other is to do
your own risk assessment and use that as the basis for the choice of
material in the product (self certification).

For the latter choice, your company carries all of the liability
>from any issues arising in the use of the product.

        Other may have another opinion.
