Compliance Engineer 

Coordinate and manage regulatory standards activities and product compliance
approvals for Garmin consumer and OEM products.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

*       Ensure GPS, AIS, touchscreen display, and marine radar development 
teams'
success in designing to meet worldwide Safety, EMC, wireless, SRD, battery
safety and other applicable regulations.
*       Generate regulatory compliance plans to guide EE and ME design,
manufacturing, test, EMC prescreen and technical publications functions
*       Effectively track, manage and support multiple projects and priorities,
develop general process guidelines
*       Issue leader for assigned standards and directives in development,
forecasting the potential impact on product lines
*       Review internal and external compliance reports for accuracy and 
completeness
*       Stay abreast of regulatory changes and new requirements

  

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

*       B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering, Applied Math or
Physics
*       4+ years Compliance Engineering, Regulatory Approvals performing duties
similar to the essential functions of this job description.
*       Know the abilities of specific TCBs and other certification bodies and
certification schemes worldwide
*       Proficiency in understanding and interpreting 3 or more of these 
standards
(Recreational Craft, EPIRB, RTCM, VHF radio, SAR, UL,  IEC, NOM, CSA, FCC,
CISPR, Industry Canada, ETSI, ITU, JASO, SAE, ACMA, NZS, ANATEL, ICASA, SOLAS,
GOST, GB) and directives (R&TTE, Battery, LVD, EMC)
*       Experience with product safety, ESD, EMC and EMI testing with proven 
ability
to review designs and drive corrective actions necessary to achieve safety,
EMC and AIS compliance
*       Strong project management and problem solving skills
*       Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*       Highly motivated and self-directed
*       Strong computer skills and knowledge of Office applications
