I can’t point you to a specific list, and I suspect that it is unlikely that such a list has been published. The requirements will be based largely on the local electrical codes. I can give some general guidance.
You generally do not need to provide the plug for industrial equipment. I would go as far to state that you probably don’t want to provide the cord either. If you are not going to include the plug, you probably should have the customer supply their own wiring to field wiring terminals on the equipment. The requirements for the cable/wiring will vary from region to region and that should be left to the installer. A significant number of countries will require a plug on the end of the cord, and supplying an unterminated cord will not be acceptable. You will face a number of hurdles if you attempt to provide a product without a plug. Professional products will have requirements based on the industry where they are used. Some will be best for field wiring and some will require the correct plug. There may be additional options depending on the industry. For example, computer equipment designed for use in a data center may be able to be supplied with a cord with an IEC 60320 C14 plug, as long as the cord meets the local requirements. I am sorry I can’t give specific information, but there are too many variations based on jurisdiction and product type. Does anyone have a list or can point me to a list of plug requirements. I don’t need list of what plug is used I need information on: Is a plug needed (can end-user mount the plug self; e.g. a cord with appliance inlet is delivered with no mains plug or a non-detachable cord without a plug) What is requirements for industrial use What is requirements for professional use What is requirements for domestic use Best regards, Mr. Kim Boll Jensen Bolls Rådgivning Ved Gadekæret 11F DK-3660 Stenløse Phone: +45 48 18 35 66 [email protected] www.bolls.dk - This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
