I’m looking for your recommendations for an inexpensive handheld sound level
meter to perform a test according to IEC/EN 61010-1 section 12.5.1 (Sound
Level).

According to this standard, the meter should be a Type 1 according to IEC
60651 or IEC 60804, however, I understand that these standards are old and
replaced by IEC 61672.

I’ve seen labs that use a cheep sound meter from Radio Shack for under
$100US and I’ve seen labs that use high tech systems costing a lot. I just
need something simple and inexpensive that will meet the current requirements
and intent of the safety standard.

I would appreciate any and all recommendations. A source for purchasing such
a meter would also be appreciated.

Regards,

The Other Brian
