Exactly what are these connectors? I ask, because I can't make sense of 
the rest of your post; 'bulkhead' and 'conduit' suggest circular 
connectors, but then you write 'flat cable' and 'pc mount'.

Ideally, you need circular connectors with the shield connected to the 
shell all round the circle.
