This implementation of GPSD and LOW Voltage directive (see below)

in one legal document applies to Technical Work Equipment and Consumer
products only.

See section 2

I am not sure to where the definitions are for the terms Technical, Working

and equipment.

“use is exclusively for work purposes, their accessories and protective
equipment”

In German:

Technische Arbeitsmittel sind verwendungsfertige Arbeitseinrichtungen, die

bestimmungsgemäß ausschließlich bei der Arbeit verwendet werden

I am Dutch, and i read here: “ Readymade Technical tools for exclusive
Professional use”

Consumer products is pretty clear.

I would think that a PC is not a technical working equipment, but an office
work equipment.

I am not sure if your laser equipment fits the description. ITE not in any
case.

Hi Kim,

And I found the UPDATED German Law (the English version) that states clearly
this requirement;

The link is: http://www.iuscomp.org/gla/statutes/GPSG.htm#s5

And Go to Chapter 2
Bringing Products into Circulation and Marking of Products

Section 4
Bringing into Circulation and Display

Where it is specified: ” … instructions for use in German must be supplied
when it is brought into circulation.”.

Respectfully yours,
Constantin

Subject: RE: Language of safety instructions

I can’t give you a reference from EN 61010 or EN 60825-1 , but I can
approach the issue from a different direction.

IEC 60950-1 section 1.7.2.1 covers general information for safety instructions
and marking for ITE. Note 4 in particular indicates that Germany requires the
translation of safety related instructions for both the user and service
personnel.

NOTE 3 In many countries, instructions and equipment marking
related to safety are required to be in a language that is acceptable
in the country in which the equipment is to be installed. Servicing
instructions are normally made available only to SERVICE PERSONS
and are generally acceptable in the English language only.

NOTE 4 In Germany, safety-related information, even for SERVICE
PERSONS, has to be in the German language.

This does indicate that some countries, and Germany in particular, do require
translations. These national laws likely apply to all products and not ITE
alone.

Subject: Language of safety instructions

Hi all

We have been met with requirements from Germany that all safety information
shall be in German, or else the CE marking is invalid. The product is a laser
product under the following standards; EN 60825 and EN 61010. None of these
standards have any requirements like this.

Is there a specific German requirements and what does it include.

Are there any other countries with same kind of requirements?

Best regards,

Mr. Kim Boll Jensen
