One of the good people of the PSTC community had recently sent me an off-line question about North American requirements for stuff connected to a computer port. And I cannot remember whom...
The following is from the CSDS Proposal for UL1310, published today (26Oct): "78.2.2 – Since the ITE derived source may, under normal and single fault conditions, have LPS capacity, the power unit must be designed to withstand any input within the LPS range (limits of 60 Vdc, 100 VA, 8 A)." Please note that these limits, while they may define a limited power source within the meaning of UL/CSA60950-1, they do NOT necessarily meet requirements for an inherently limited Class 2 source as required by NFPA for "Class 2 not wet/Class 3 wet". There are other requirements for control/power lines. So the answer to your question would be no direct connection, and that you would still need to use a recognized component PTC.
