Electronics Design Engineer

 

Company designs and builds battery adapters, rechargeable batteries, and
battery chargers.  Company is looking for an Electronics Design Engineer
experienced in battery charging and battery pack development to support our
rechargeable battery and battery charger business

Key Experience:

·         5+ years designing battery packs and power systems capable of
supplying 30+ watts (average) for cordless tools, laptop computers, medical
devices, or handheld radios.

·         Must have significant experience designing and developing
electronic circuitry (i.e. component level hardware design) for battery packs
and their associated chargers. 

·         Familiar with applying various battery chemistries (including:
Ni-Cd, NiMH, Pb-acid, and Li-Ion) to meet customer requirements.

·         Familiar with battery and charger safety requirements.

·         Designing for compliance with regulatory agency requirements
including: UL, FCC, IEC, DOT, FDA, etc.

Job Description:

·         Design and develop electronic circuitry (i.e. component level
hardware design) for battery packs and chargers.  Including specifying
materials and components.

·         Must be familiar with, and capable of, performing thorough design
analysis – including: loop stability, electrical stress, thermal stress,
worst-case tolerance stack-up, MTBF, FMEA, fault-tree, etc.

·         Work closely with internal and external customers.

·         Must effectively manage time to complete multiple projects on-time.
 

·         Design for manufacturability.

·         Articulate ideas within cross-functional discussions.  Present or
assist in the presentation of design ideas, issue resolution, and analysis of
technical data.  Perform and facilitate specification reviews, design reviews
and technical data analysis. 

·         Must have technical writing and drawing skills – including the
creation of: component and system drawings and specifications, test reports,
technical sections of proposals, bill-of-material (BOM), test procedures, test
fixtures, and other engineering documents. 

·         Must have experience with multi-layer printed circuit board layout,
fabrication, and development using surface mount technology (SMT) and
thru-hole components.

Other Requirements:

·         Bachelor degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with 5+
years experience in hand-held portable power systems.

·         Speak, read, and write effective English.
