There is an draft IEC document that is undergoing parallel voting (in the FDIS stage) in CENELEC. Voting closes on October 23, 2009. I presume that if it is approved, it will simultaneously become an IEC document AND an EN/IEC document (EN/IEC 60204-33, to be specific).
As a European Norm, it is then (I presume) a candidate for notification in the European Official Journal (OJ) as provide some presumption of conformity for a CE Marking Directive. Since it's cousin standard EN/IEC 60204-1 has been notified to the Low Voltage Directive and Machinery Directive, I expect the same for this. I am wondering, however, what body is in charge of making the decision on the OJ notice. Is this done by CENELEC part and parcel with their FDIS vote, or is some other group (EU Parliament or Council) also involved. I'm trying to understand when that shoe might fall. Thanks in advance for any insight. Regards, Lauren Crane Product Regulatory Analyst Corporate Product EHS Manager Applied Materials Inc.
