PSNet,
Well, again this topic has turned on a lot of discussion - and some
interesting comments.
There has been some side discussion among some safety folks and it
looks like that SC61/60335 folks believe that this is covered. The oven
should be safe even if all protective devices fail. (However the stuff
stored in the oven apparently was 'well done' - and I usually prefer
'medium-rare').
More specifically, the following 335 tests are prescribed:
19.11.4.1 ... electrostatic discharge, IEC 64000-4-2, level 4 ...
19.11.4.2 ... radiated fields, IEC 61000-4-3, level 3 ...
19.11.4.3 ... fast transient bursts, IEC 61000-4-4, level 3 signal &
control lines, level 4 power supply lines ...
19.11.4.4 ... voltage surges, IEC 61000-4-5, level 3 line-to-line,
level 4 line to earth ...
19.11.4.5 ... injected currents, IEC 61000-4-6, level 3 ...
19.11.4.6 ... voltage dips & interruptions, IEC 61000-4-11, Class 3
...
19.11.4.7 ... mains signals, IEC 61000-4-13, class 2 ...
Yes, we know that North America does not uniformly use IEC standards.
If you have comments on the adequacy of these tests - considering the
present incident - please pass them along.
