We didn’t get as many replies as we would like, but it was surprising how similar the cost was at different labs. Most labs charge more for testing in a Chamber; especially if they have a large chamber for RE & RI testing. Labs which use an OATS generally cost less per hour but the testing takes longer so the net cost per test is about the same. Immunity tests that are performed outside a chamber are generally less per hour, also. So to try and compare apples to apples, I categorized the results in these major topics:
- Note for simplicity, I broke the cost down per hour in US dollars though most labs charge by the shift or ½ day. - Those of you without HTML email will have a hard time reading this. - The lab names and exact locations are not given by request of the participating labs. - Most labs offer discounts from 5% to 20% for things like quick payment or reserving large blocks of test time. - Most labs have some kind of Accreditation.
