I have a few questions related to product compliance: - working on an OEM board-level product (some electronic circuit boards bolted and cabled together, no enclosure, no I/O protection, very minimal input power protection, BD960 board is part of this assembly) -- Heard that to sell this product in Europe, it must pass at least CE class A (even though it is an un-enclosed assembly). >>Can someone comment on this?
- CE testing requirements change from time to time as the EU phases in new directives to replace existing ones. Sometimes product compliance retesting is required. >>Is there a service that will give a heads-up well in advance so that one can plan (and justify) such product retesting? -Currently, safety compliance for data and power cables (some cables are large diameter and several hundred feet long) are the issue. Understanding is that for aircraft, the FAA flammability regulations and tests requirements are free to download. For marine applications, there is the SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) international agreement with is legislated into law for most countries and this points to various IEC and other standards. For rail and ground vehicle applications, there seem to be various organizations in Europe and the US; actually New York City has its own standard for cabling safety. All of this is related to safety with respect to fire, flammability and toxic chemicals. >>Again is there a service that provides notice of changes or where one can obtain world wide related regulation information such as that provided by EIA Track for environmental issues?
