Hello List Members,

I am forwarding a question I got from a new business partner in the UK.
Since my experience is with stand-alone controllers, I didn't want to
answer without some professional input.

He asks:

We have been asked for declarations of conformity for EMC for our panels
which are part of a fixed installation - similar to an HVAC control
system.

We use devices in the panels from various suppliers and have
declarations for each device.

We have a technical file for all the devices, and the panel design and
construction.

Who, in your opinion would constitute the responsible person who should
sign such a document.

To expand, I would assume that some of my equipment (HVAC controls,
access controls, lighting controls, power monitoring equipment) could be
in his packaged solution (panel).

So would he provide my D of C's to his customer or one drafted on his
companies letterhead with his signature?

I am just guessing here, but I would think that if he marks the overall
panel with CE, then he is responsible.

If that's the case, can someone please suggest what standards should be
applied?

In my business, we have used product standard 61326-1 or generic EMC
standards (61000-6-X). But now we are moving towards the 50491 series
standards.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Best regards,
