As an easier option, I'm thinking of coming up with a relatively
light weight conductive surface that can be easily placed over the
floor tiles and easily removed again. Something like a foil that could
be rolled into place and then rolled up again when done
I can't think of a foil that would be mechanically robust enough. But a
wire mesh might be OK. The holes are much smaller than a wavelength, so
are 'invisible' to the radiation.
Screened cabins (in which we used to develop AM radios) used for the
walls 'perforated metal', which has typically 3 mm holes, but that is
much smaller than necessary.
