and I too see a variation as you described. One theory I'm working on
is that our turntable might not be as accurate in it's 5ยบ increments as
it could be.
It is simple to verify. Paint a reference mark on the turntable and the
floor. Rotate one step. Paint a new mark on the floor opposite the one
on the turntable. Measure the *straight line* distance between the marks
on the floor. Continue round the circle. Measuring the straight-line
distance is more accurate than trying to measure the arc length, and you
can still determine the angles with simple trig.
