It is simple to verify. Paint a reference mark on the turntable and the floor. Rotate one step. Paint a new mark on the floor opposite the one on the turntable. Measure the *straight line* distance between the marks on the floor. Continue round the circle. Measuring the straight-line distance is more accurate than trying to measure the arc length, and you can still determine the angles with simple trig.
