It is well documented good EMC practise that all screens should be terminated
with a 360 degree termination. If you are using D type shells this is quite
easy.
However we have a product which is under development which uses an off the
shelf round aluminium case which has an internal ID of 80mm and has the
following features :
1) It has 2 conduit entries- so no room for any D Types.
2) There will be 3 screened cables terminated in a small termination space.
The problems are :
3) We do not wish to put screwed clamps on the cable termination pcb as a
heavy handed customer could break the pcb. This means P clips are out.
4) Even if we put a clamping arrangement in for the screen and hence bond
the screen to chassis, we need to capacitive de-couple the product screen end
to stop ground loops. We have already looked a EMC glands but the need for
capacitive de-coupling rules this solution out.
Question.
Do you know of any products on the markets that may solve this design problem. ?
Thanks for your help
Ian
