Well don't try - "what is the sound of one hand clapping" I asked Siri (iPhone assistant thingy) and she gave me an answer. (Silence) Try to avoid definitions and work the question so they have to demonstrate knowledge of what things do. You might try, "if you have inadequate creepage distances what alternatives might be available? (through insulation is what I had in mind) They can look up creepage distance all night long but unless they known a little something about what is being accomplished with creepage distance they can't come up with an alternative.
