2dLts and Ensigns are intrinsically unsafe. 1stLt and JGs are safe when
installed in properly-rated enclosure. Lts are safe when used in accordance
with conditions of acceptability. Majors and Commanders +, are safe because
they cannot be connected to operational equipment.

And my English is of redneck origin. Revision 2:
'... while the battery was sitting in a charger that was not connected to ac
mains.'
