It appears that 61010-1 is finally becoming conscious of the differential
relation ships in sourcing circuits.

I think "opposite" is referring to single phase sources Line to Neutral in a
Typical AC system or + to common (-) in a DC.

So it is referring to the spacing's between the sourcing inputs across
terminal blocks, pcb etc.

But one should be able to extend this to be "differing phases" line to line
in poly phase applications as well.

Does anyone know what "opposite polarity" is supposed to mean in this
context?  It doesn't appear to be in reference to DC voltage or plugs.  Does
this refer to multi-phase system only?  

 

Any clarifications or interpretations would be appreciated.
