Charlie,

It's best to get a Notified Body Opinion for this.

I have done this for a number of our customers.

Full 301 489 tests on complete unit, spurious radiated emission to 301 511,
safety tests on complete unit.

Submission of TCF relying on radio transmitter manufacturer's DoC for R&TTE
Directive.

This is assuming that the transmitter is actually what would be considered a
module by the FCC or Industry Canada (Modular approval).

Charlie, contact me directly and I'll send an explanation of what I did.

Regards,

In addition to Charlie's words......

Although you may choose to 'carry forward' some of the radio transmitter test
results from the module; you are not actually carrying forward the "equipment
authorisation" and this does not mean you are any less responsible for the
radio performance of the end product.

The end product supplier is still responsible.

(It's not like FCC or IC modular approval, where the module manufacturer
retains some responsibility).

So, yes, you can carry forward (trust?) the radio test results from the module
if you choose, if you trust them and you think they're applicable to your
application.

Michael.

Amund

There's guidance on integrating "assessed" radio modules into products at
http://www.rtteca.com/TGN01Rev5.pdf

Basically, you may well be able to "carry forward" the RF spectrum compliance
of the module, subject to meeting some criteria, but you will need to assess
the finished product for EMC and safety

Charlie

Subject: [PSES] CE+CE ...

Consider a radio system under development (radiomodule, SMPS, hard disk, main
board, etc) All parts in the system are COST (and CE marked) and the main work
is now an engineering job and make some SW.

When system is functioning and ready for putting it on the marked, the complete
RTTE approval must be carried out, even though that all modules are CE marked.

No other outcome, agree?
