Industrial machinery would be covered by occupational safety and health regulations, but those regulations would not define detailed technical requirements in general. http://www.jniosh.go.jp/icpro/jicosh-old/english/law/ http://www.jniosh.go.jp/icpro/jicosh-old/english/guideline/machinery_attachment_2007/ For technical aspects, there are tens of JIS standards, such as JIS B 9700 series and JIS C 0508 series of standards, related to machinery safety. Fortunately, many of those JIS standards are derived from, or at least have some relation with, corresponding ISO standards.
