Korea absolutely will not accept their report. Up until a few years ago, all testing for Korea had to be done in country. Now there is a mutual recognition agreement with them that allows testing at approved labs that are accredited to the appropriate KN standards.
The KN standards also differ from the IEC. Offhand, -4-3 mandates 3 second dwells, and -4-5 requires all four phase angles for surge, 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees – which would probably not have been done 14 years ago. As for voltage and frequency, you are correct there as well. We had a rejection from Korea because one datasheet showed 221 Vac instead of 220 Vac. They require 220 Vac, 60 Hz, and will accept nothing else. Ignoring the fact that generally no county accepts test reports that old for a new approval even if the design has never changed. Can anyone verify that Korea will not accept for approval test data that doesn’t clearly indicate the appropriate test voltages and frequencies are used – will they accept European test voltages. The bottom line is that after 14 years they have a new requirement and want us to eat the cost of getting it, somehow assuming we should have known better than they that in the far distant future they would have a new market.
