Guillaume- I assume that the "product" and the "sensors" must work together to be useful. That is, the "product" by itself is not useful equipment, and the "sensors" by themselves are not useful equipment.
In this case, you have an "EUT comprising several units". This case is addressed in section 7.7 of IEC 61000-4-6 (2008). If the product and the sensors are always connected by short cables (1 meter or less), then the product and sensors are one EUT and no immunity testing need be done on the interconnecting cable. On the other hand, if the connecting cable can be longer than 1 meter, then the "product" and "sensors" are treated and tested as separate EUTs. But for cable less than 1 meter long and cables more than 1 meter long, the "product" and "sensors" need to be placed together as close as possible without making contact. Given this, it makes sense to me that for the case where the cable can be longer than 1 meter, both the "product" and the "sensors" need be decoupled from the cable simultaneously. Then the cable is auxiliary equipment. But neither the product nor the sensors are auxiliary equipment. There may be an exception: The case where the sensors are always distant from the product. In this case, I think it would make more sense to NOT place the sensors and product close together. In this case, I think it would make more sense for the sensors to be auxiliary equipment to the product, and the product be auxiliary equipment to the sensors.
