Bell Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer Milestone AV Technologies 6436 City West Parkway Eden Prairie, MN 55344 [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> +1.952.225.6782 Regulatory Compliance Engineer - Full-Time - Eden Prairie, MN Milestone AV Technologies, LLC Job Description: GENERAL PURPOSE This position is responsible for the management of third party product listings such as UL, TUV, OSHPD, etc., and domestic/international regulations such as Proposition 65, REACH, RoHS, WEEE, NOM, etc. DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES * Provide input into design activities with regard to third party product listing requirements * Maintain current knowledge of global directives/regulations and product safety standards/procedures * Maintain comprehensive understanding of product standards and regulations. * Communicate requirements from standards and regulations to interested parties, including changes that may affect cross functional areas. Review significant regulatory issues with manager/director. * Prepare and submit domestic/international product safety and regulatory filings and registrations * Work with third party listing bodies regarding requests for new listings, witness testing, audits, and follow-up services * Ensure all communications on key aspects related to the interpretation of standards and/or regulations/directives are duly documented and filed for easy retrieval and distribution * Communicate the status of product listings to internal personnel * Create and maintain the necessary process documentation for product certification processes, including process flow charts, procedures, work instructions, forms, databases and records as appropriate * Measure the effectiveness of product certification processes and provide measurements to responsible parties for management review * Participate in technical committees and review sessions on product safety standards and regulations impacting the Company's business * Coordinate audits, production inspections, and follow-up services from third party organizations. Promptly address any issues raised during these audits/inspections * Develop and maintain system to track vendor certificates necessary to demonstrate compliance to product safety standards/regulations * Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations. * Demonstrate our five core values of Integrity, Customer Responsiveness, Innovation, Passionate Contribution & Empowerment and Continuous Improvement JOB REQUIREMENTS Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) * Excellent interpersonal skills * Computer literate (MS Office, e-mail, etc.) * Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc. * Mechanical aptitude * Excellent project management and planning skills, while providing high attention to details * Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs * Be detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills * Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team * Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment * Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines * Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law * Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information Minimum Education and Experience Required: * Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or other related technical degree with regulatory experience, and a minimum of two (2) years experience working with third party listing organizations such as UL, TUV, etc. (specifically standards regarding AV mounting equipment such as UL1678 and EN60065); or combination of relevant education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: * Proficient in statistical analysis and DOE (Design of Experiments) * Experience manipulating database data for tracking and reporting WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard. * Combination of general office, machine shop, and warehouse environment (no air-conditioning) * May require ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area * Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 5% travel Note: Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
