Everyone

We have now finalised our programme for the next IEEE EMC Society meeting on
19 March, with hopefully something for everyone with regulations, standards,
and technical discussions, and finally a tour of a preserved functioning
steam locomotive depot.

The event is free for everyone, but please note the requirement to register
in advance.

Best wishes

Information available on speakers:

Richard Harris

Assistant Director, European Reform Directorate Product Regulation Branch,
in the UK Government's Department for Business, Innovation & Skills

Richard Marshall MA, CEng., FIEE, FIET, FInst.P

Richard has considerable experience in the design and manufacture of
Industrial and Office electronics, and in wired telecommunications systems.

It is believed that he was the first - in 1983 - to use ferrite common-mode
chokes for interference suppression.

He has represented Rank-Xerox, and in more recent times the Radio Society of
Great Britain, on numerous committees concerned with EMC Standards.

Upon "retirement" he established Richard Marshall Limited, providing EMC and
design consultancy together with the manufacture of specialised test
equipment.

It is now 63 years since he solved his first serious EMC problem!

Ian Marshall

Ian is currently vice-chairman of ETSI ERM WG_EMC and the rapporteur for EN
301 489-1, -4, -17 together with the guide to using the EN 301 489 series,
TR 103 088. Ian has also been a member of the UK delegation to CENELEC TC
210. Ian's most recent post was that of regulatory manager at Aviat
Networks, prior to this Ian has been heavily involved in standardisation
with both Nortel and GEC-Plessey Telecommunications.
