Dear All,

The captioned regulation amends the current EU Regulation (EC) No 1275/2008
on standby power and the product specific EU Regulation (EC) No 642/2009 on
Consumer TVs. On the surface, all the electrical and electronics equipment
using Wifi or Ethernet connections, such as internet radio receivers, wifi
speakers, network media players and networked TVs fall into the scope. They
all have either wired or wireless network port/interface. However they
cannot be triggered to turn on remotely like remote wake-up feature on
computers. It may have this feature when Smart Home appliances come to the
light. Thus in theory they are not falling into the new regulation of
801/2013. It cannot achieve the energy saving purpose and just causes
confusion to manufacturers, retailers and customers. What is the rationale
behind to impose this new regulation? Is there any official guidance
available to public to avoid unnecessary panics?

Thanks and regards,

Scott
