reports of what customers have actually done…
Warnings invoke a specific behavior on the part of someone. Where misuse is
foreseeable, a warning can be an effective safeguard.
Discarding a battery (in an incinerator) is not a misuse of the battery,
because the battery is not being used for some purpose other than its use as a
battery. (I’ve seen batteries used to support something, which is a misuse.)
Discarding a battery into an incinerator is discarding a battery, which is a
normal action for a used battery, not a misuse. We must be careful to
categorize the action for which the warning applies.
