Those are very big questions indeed. 1. CISPR/I decided that because much multimedia equipment has several functions, but different products have a different mix of functions, the only way to write a single immunity standard is to write a separate text for each function. 2. Yes. (An easy one.) 3. CISPR standards do not have implementation dates. For some standards, IEC advises (in the Foreword) that industry needs time after the publication of the standard to prepare to apply it. The EN versions do have an implementation date, which is agreed between CENELEC Technical Board and the European Commission. For EN 55035, the date is not yet known for certain. 4. Yes, in general immunity standards can be difficult. For emissions, there are only conducted and radiated emissions and techniques for measuring them are well-known. For immunity, there are all sorts of different EMI stimuli that can affect a product, and the reactions of different products to the stimuli vary from no effect to total cessation of operation. 5. I think I answered this in point 4 above. 6. For conducted emissions, it can be difficult to feed the product from a representative source impedance and give it a representative load impedance to feed. Apart from technical difficulties, opinions on what is 'representative' can differ. For radiated emissions, the physical layout of the product and its cables and connections can greatly affect the measured radiated field strength, so that must be defined in the standard quite precisely. Also, the above source and load impedance issues may apply, and the differing opinions. With best wishes DESIGN IT IN! From: Vincent Lee [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 8, 2017 6:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [PSES] Questions on EN55035 and CISPR 35 Hi all, As I am a newbies in EMC compliance, hence I sincerely seek your professional view on following questions, 1) May I know how does the CISPR committee derive out the CISPR 35 Immunity Std to replace CISPR 22 and CISPR 13? 2) Am I correct to say that usually it is after the publication of a new CISPR standard (e.g. CISPR 35), then other countries like EU will adopt, modify the new CISPR standards to be their standards (e.g. EN 55035) ? 3) May I know what are the latest updates on EN 55035 and CISPR 35, e.g. effective dates of implementation ? 4) Is it more difficult to set EMC standards for Immunity than Emission, since Emission Std CISPR 32 and EN 55032 have been finalized while Immunity Std CISPR 35 and EN 55035 are still in draft mode ? 5) What are some of the challenges or difficulties in setting the Immunity Stds ? 6) What are some of the challenges or difficulties in setting the Emission Stds ? Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you very much.
