Hi John, I've learned the plan is to offer a fixed kit of software, custom low voltage (5Vdc) electronic controllers, OEM CAN/USB translator device, wiring harness and mounting hardware. The PC, VR hardware & wall wart will be specified but not provided. All very low power 5Vdc, no a.c. mains connection HW provided.
With this configuration none of the kit is (yet) tested for safety. Does EN 62368-1 include provisions for testing IR interfaces? I've read that LEDs have new requirements in 62368-1. (The joystick controllers use IR to communicate with the VR bits.) This matters, because the EMC Directive treats the three categories differently. The description fits EN 55032, and for immunity you should look now at EN 55035, not EN 55024. For safety, apply EN 62368-1. If each constituent product already complies with EN 60950-1 or EN 62368-1 and you just plug them together, you shouldn't need any more safety testing. If anything included uses 'wireless' (that magnetic induction or radio-frequency, but not infra-red) the RED applies to that product only.
