No exemptions I know of dependent on where a cable goes.

Lightning signal is applied common mode so whether or not a differential
mode signal is active or connected or not doesn¹t matter: signal is applied
to entire bundle.

Pin testing may have to be performed with cited relay in either state.

Cable Bundle Test
Subject: [PSES] DO-160G Lightning Induced Transients Susceptibility Cable
Bundle Test

I am looking for the EMC-PSTC Servers members help with understanding which
cables the DO-160G Lightning Induced Transients Susceptibility Cable Bundle
Test is applicable to.

1. Does DO-160G Lightning Induced Transients Cable Bundle Test have to
be applied to all an Equipment¹s external cables including those that are
connected to a separate equipment but are not directly electrically
connected or bonded to the Aircraft platform?

2. In other words is Cable Bundle Test applicable to external cables
or only those which directly interface with the Aircraft Platform?

3. Finally if all the external cables have to be tested, is there any
exemptions for example if the external cable connections are normally
disconnected by relays in the equipment and only very intermittently
connected to the separate equipment for a very short period of time?

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Please feel free to reply to me directly at
[email protected] instead of via the EMC-PTSC server if
you prefer.
