Hi Lauren, Thanks for your response. This is a specific application for one large scale equipment manufacturer (LSEM) or OEM. They plan to meet the MD 2006/42/EC with applicable standards EN1010-1, EN1010-2 and EN 60204-1. The device we will be supplying will not even have a power source. This will be provided by the LSEM. The Power Source will also be approved and qualified by the LSEM. Naturally, we will assure that our components in their installation will not prohibit final compliance requirements but.....
Thanks again, Mark From: lauren.cr...@us.tel.com [mailto:lauren.cr...@us.tel.com] Sent: Friday, February 22, 2019 1:07 PM To: Schmidt, Mark <markschm...@xrite.com>; EMC-PSTC@LISTSERV.IEEE.ORG Subject: RE: Radio and Machinery Directive Hi Mark, A mixture of opinion and facts... I think the concept of PCM is often mis-understood. For me, the important question is whether the item is being placed on the market as a product for, in effect, and 'unknown end user'. If yours will just be a B2B transaction between your company and the large scale equipment manufacturer you are providing them with a 'component' (in the context of the Machinery Directive) you are not necessarily placing PCM on the market. Note: if your product is a 'drive system' it is PCM as per the MD definition. Components (i.e. items intended for further incorporation not by the end user) are out of scope of the MD as such. The party assembling them into their machine, will, of course, have to ensure their overall machine complies -- which might impose design conditions onto your item. The Commission Guide to the Machinery Directive has a lot of guidance for this topic. --> http://ec.europa.eu/DocsRoom/documents/9202/attachments/1/translations<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__ec.europa.eu_DocsRoom_documents_9202_attachments_1_translations&d=DwMFAw&c=9mghv0deYPYDGP-W745IEdQLV1kHpn4XJRvR6xMRXtA&r=RsvNGGiEXp8Wa3AN0R9oJL3JV5vFvlTsmxQpMmBLBIw&m=rNm3PBuLH1gw4meu4yn41DnvR31p3zPNCdI2G1k5_tY&s=TzT4Q8mx5kuR6KPru9YiyM22NMr4Vw5y0t__PQVnH_0&e=> Regards, -Lauren From: Schmidt, Mark <markschm...@xrite.com<mailto:markschm...@xrite.com>> Sent: Friday, February 22, 2019 10:34 AM To: EMC-PSTC@LISTSERV.IEEE.ORG<mailto:EMC-PSTC@LISTSERV.IEEE.ORG> Subject: [PSES] Radio and Machinery Directive Hello Group, Not an expert in the Machinery Directive. Can't seem to find a clear answer and was hoping this group could assist me. We will be selling an OEM electromechanical devices for integration into their large scale equipment. Under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC when partly completed machinery is placed on the market a CE mark is not required, so a Declaration of Incorporation will be issued. This is an industrial application and one of the pieces that will be part of this installation is BT compliant for USA, Canada, EU, China, Japan and S. Korea. What would be my obligation to this OEM if they wanted to ship their Large Scale equipment World-wide? What level of due diligence is adequate? Opinions and facts are welcome.
