All, I am wondering if anyone has done immunity / susceptibility testing on Floor standing metal detecting devices. What I think the rub is, all of the test setups are based upon using a metal ground plane for the tests (there are a couple exceptions however, primarily in the 61000-4-x series of standards floor standing equipment is setup on a ground plane with some sort of insulation barrier. The question is, how do you get a metal detector to work reliably when it is in such close proximity to the ground plane and detecting a false positive.
More curious than anything if anyone has worked on one of these and has an elegant solution. One thought I had was to line the ground plane with ferrite tile floor / wall panel squares (2' x 2' kind e.g 600mm x 600mm), but where they work at such low frequency I assumed that wouldn't help.
