Hi Guys, 1. Per UN 38.3 single cell required to have protective means to be declared as single cell battery…. And protective means such as fixed terminals, solid enclosure, safety vent can be considered as a protective means to declare it as a single cell battery? 2. IEC 62619 tests under sec 8. Overcharge control of voltage, overcharge control of current requires voltage of 10% higher than rated, and 20% higher than rated current respectively… question is , charger to charge such massive battery ( 600 - 1000 VDC and current of the order of 300 to 400 Amp) has to defeat several safety measures before it can be made to deliver higher voltage and current . These defeats can be seen as faults. And battery has several safety measures before it can be made to receive such charging conditions This means creating deliberate several faults. What’s the rational of these tests under single fault conditions?
Would like hear battery safety experts comments Kind Regards, Sudhakar Sent from my iPhone - ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list.
