Functional safety requirements are increasingly written into product
standards across a wide variety of industries, including industrial
equipment, appliances, renewable energy systems, energy storage, robotics
and more.

This presentation covers the following topics:

·         What is functional safety – definitions, overview and background

·         Why it is important – what functional safety adds to product and
system safety evaluations beyond traditional safety standards

·         Industry adoption – examples of functional safety standards being
adopted in different industries

·         Industry applications – similarities and differences of some
functional safety standards

Jason Mauldin has more than 20 years of experience with global regulatory
compliance in functional safety, appliances, power distribution, industrial
and electronic controls, lighting controls and energy management equipment.
He has significant experience in Functional Safety, regulatory and
standards evaluations for a variety of products, including U.S. and
Canadian certification as well as CE marking.



Mr. Mauldin is a certified functional safety professional who assists with
risk assessments and processes of industrial components. He has trained
engineers on how to determine when to apply functional safety requirements
in accordance with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, UL 1998, IEC 60730 and UL 991.
