Hi Amund,
You might want to look at EN ISO 13628-6:2006, specifically "Annex F (informative) Definition of subsea electromagnetic environment and guidance on the selection of tests, limits and severity to provide a presumption of compliance of subsea equipment" "F.1 General As no other standard or guide considers equipment deployed on the seabed, some examples of subsea environments are defined here and classified by location class using the principles of IEC/TS 61000-2-5[29]. Test techniques, severity levels and limits are derived from IEC 60945[26], IEC 60533[22], IEC 61000-3-4[31] and IEC 61000-4-6[34]. In determining the selection of tests and their limits or severity levels, the test plan should take cognizance of the fact that while the deployed environment is subsea, the test and commissioning locations are likely to be the generic industrial environment, the above-decks ship environment, or both" All the best James James Pawson Managing Director & EMC Problem Solver Unit 3 Compliance Ltd EMC : Environmental & Vibration : Electrical Safety : CE & UKCA : Consultancy www.unit3compliance.co.uk <http://www.unit3compliance.co.uk/> | [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> +44(0)1274 911747 | +44(0)7811 139957 2 Wellington Business Park, New Lane, Bradford, BD4 8AL Registered in England and Wales # 10574298 Office hours: Every morning my full attention is on consultancy, testing, and troubleshooting activities for our customers' projects. A customer believes that EMC must be tested according to EN 60945 since the product will be on the ship's deck for a period before it is lowered into the sea. I agree that EN 60945 and IEC 60533 are relevant standards to consider. But is there any EMC standard that actually deals with equipment that is only operated on the bottom of the sea? Equipment is put into operation with cables running from the ship. Long cables with other word.
