Hello all,

A bit of a quandary here, and it could be my own fault. I'm examining audio
equipment that has small ventilation holes above the AC Mains Inlet.

Hastily my mind jumped to the rigid wire test (V.1.6) for stripped wire
terminals intended for wiring speakers to audio power amps. But this
particular unit is not a power amp and it does not have that sort of wiring
terminal. My angst is about the mains voltage immediately behind the
ventilation holes. Section, 5.3.2.4 says to check each wire terminal
opening as well as any other openings within 25 mm. And I this case the 1mm
x 100mm wire easily reaches inside.

In my original thinking, I saw this as a potential end-user hazard and
thought this wire probe might be a good idea to use in this case. So, my
client balked, and I can definitely see his point. These vent holes are not
for speaker terminals, and also not for stripped wire by the end user. As
written in the standard, this is not a great fit for that purpose.

So what section of the standard, if any, applies here?

Thanks! ~Doug
