The interference hunt was an interesting article.

The simple fix of using a set of directional antennas would work but is likely
to run afoul of the FCC Rules as using higher gain antennas are generally
prohibited unless they are Certified with the transmitter.

LED sign companies are probably still very mindful of the FCC scrutiny of their
industry in 2018-2019. The Enforcement Bureau investigated hundreds of
products resulting in a least 21 settlement agreements with fines as high as
$115K. To settle its respective investigation, each company verified that the
models at issue were brought into compliance with FCC rules, agreed to pay a
monetary penalty, and committed to abide by a compliance plan to improve
internal procedures to avoid future violations. The compliance plans are
painful and typically include filing detailed reports with the FCC for 3 years.

Nice. Seems as if a simpler fix would be a set of directional antennas for the
gas station’s 915 MHz link, yielding higher intentional signal and if the

Hi All,

I thought this interference hunt to a gas station price sign might be of
interest to the group.
