What purpose does the cabinet serve, and why would parts of ISO 13849 series apply?

Subject: [PSES] Non-electrical support products
Think Before You Click: This email originated outside our organization.
I am looking for ay suggestions/recommendations for a cabinet that it used in conjunction with, it not physically or electrically connect to, a product that falls under the EU Machinery Regulation.
Questions are:
- can/should this cabinet be CE Marked, or should it be considered to be part pf the CE Marked machine?
- If yes, then the only assessment that I think should be done is a Risk Assessment, but not sure what standard should be used.
- I suggested 13849 but there is pushback as it it non-electrical, even though there are sections of 13849 that would be applicable, as well as those that are N/A
- SEMI S10 is an alternative, but it is a guideline and not a standard, and is is not harmonized in the EU
I am told that this cabinet is sold as an option to the machine, and therefore the CE Marking issue.
Thoughts and comments solicited and appreciated.
