Jeff, Chris, Found my issue - it helps to use the correct port pinouts, Page 45 of the EMC manual must show the view from a DB-25 male connector that would attach to the parport, my original take was that the drawing depicted the parport connector on my machine and the associated pinout. I should have known better. Thanks for your help, I have certainly learned alot about the system while debugging this issue, I look forward to learning alot more.
