A (very) few things in the package are not in CVS because they are specific to a particular version of Ubuntu or Gnome etc. (they represent system configuration, not EMC code). That may change for the 2.1 packages - we're not sure yet. Meanwhile you can get the exact source tree used to build the official packages with apt-get source emc2, and you can rebuild the official emc2 packages exactly as distributed using the standard debian incantation of apt-get -b source emc2. The GPL requires that you can exactly reproduce the distributed packages from source and we are serious about that.
