Ugh!  This can get as ugly as the C vs. <your favorite language here> 
wars, or maybe
even the Windows vs. <mac, Linux, etc.> wars, which get REALLY ugly.

I started with VHDL, and almost understand it, in the sense of the way 
the simulators
use it, and how the Xilinx synthesis tools use it.  I still get hung up 
every once in a
while with code that does totally bizarre things, and just have to poke 
at it for a while
until I get what I want.

As long as PCI slots exist, there's no problem.  PCI parallel ports 
actually work better
than the motherboard ones, at least on some systems.  If the PCI goes 
away, the Mesa
board won't work, either.
