Sorry for offending whoever felt my previous post was spam. I thought it was interesting in that maybe one could adapt EMC to work with such a unit since as it stands now the compucarve does not accept g-code.
As for the unit not being availible, I did some searching on the web today and I found a site where someone posted thier experiences with the unit. They eventually returned the unit because they did'nt feel that it was up to production work. Perhaps they are having production issues of some sort. I like the concept of the unit, that is, the way that it is arranged like a surface planer. This allows virtually unlimited X cutting. In addition, the carvewright website mentions that board cutting and joinery is possible, with dovetailing possibly availible in the future. This capability allows such a unit to replace many conventional woodworking tools in a home shop. I actually like the idea so much that I'm thinking of buying a used planer, gutting it and creating my next emc machine. What I don't like is the flexible shaft drive and the low routing speed (22K rpm). I'd prefer something higher, like 30k. In any case, I suspect in short time we will begin to see similiar competitive products from other woodworking manufacturers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
