Hello Alex

I believe that better answer can give Peter Wallace and his e-mail "Peter C.
Wallace" [EMAIL PROTECTED]

http://www.mesanet.com/

I called and talk to him about 2 months ago.

So, that card 5i20 type 2 should be very close in time.

5i20 type 2 will be more expensive but it can control 8 axis because of
additional 50 pins connector.

I believe that there are some other electronics advantages in 5i20 type 2 in
compare to general 5i20 and I am good in electronics details.

I remember that breakout board about $ 25 and it seamlessly working with 5i20.

Thanks

AramK

Do you have any more information on this?

Best regards,

Hi

First. MESA electronics manufacture their own breakout board and I bought
and use it. It is good.

Second. MESA electronics in few weeks time will facture new type 5I20 board,
5i20 TYPE 2.

The deference is that 5i20 type 2 will have 4-50 pins connectors instead of
3.

Best regards,

AramK

Yes, it should. You need a spindle encoder of course.

This is some info I gathered a while back.

     * The Winford Engineering BRK2x25 is very nice, with 45 degree
angled terminal blocks that make it easy to wire to either row of
screws. They cost $45 each.
http://www.winfordeng.com/products/brk2x25.php
     * The DaqStuff d-500013 has right angle terminals that make it more
difficult to wire the left row of pins, but only costs $25 each. (Note:
the "hard to wire" left hand row is the even numbered pins. If you are
connecting to the 5i20, those are the ground pins, and the signals are
on the odd numbered pins. If you are connecting to one of the 7iXX
interface boards, check its documentation to see what is odd and even.)

I haven't used either of the above boards yet, right now I'm using
something I got at a local surplus place (bought an electrical enclosure
for $25, got the breakout as part of the deal). Looks like this:
