I am doing something similar. My pwm amp is only an h-bridge driven directly
from emc. Then the encoder feeds back.

emc2>printerport>h-bridge>motor>encoder>printerport>
^<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<V

http://www.electronicsam.com/images/KandT/servostart/almost.JPG This was with a
lot of help from jmk. (I think it is a work of art)

The bit of playing I have done looks like it works very well. (emc2 doing the
pid)

Cradek has done this on his small laith with great results.

Although I have a pluto and mesa board that will be what actually gets used now
as I would like higher count encoders.

  Subject: [Emc-users] pwm amplifier

  hello

I am trying to build a h-bridge pwm driver for brush dc motor at 10 amp,
80vdc. the mesa card provide a pwm output and direction output. do I need a
torque/current loop on my board using opamps, or just switching motor voltage
via h-bridge pwm is enough for emc servo loop. I have a 500 count encoder on
the rotor shaft.

  TIA
  Larry
