As a sequel to the spikes, I now have a 'simple' compilation problem.
Initially I just downloaded rtai-3.2 and a vanilla 2.4.27 kernel. Compile
kernel, no problem. After applying the rtai patch, compilation fails on
compiling adeos/x86.c with a "suffix or operands invalid for 'mov' " error.
I've repeated this process with various combinations of gcc-2.95, 3.3, 3.4,
4.0 and 4.1, kernel 2.4.21, 2.4.25 and 2.4.27 and rtai 3.2, 3.1 and 3.05. So
far, no luck. Has anybody ever had these problems? Is it at all possible to
compile a 2.4 kernel on an originally non-2.4 system?
Besides, do I want a 2.4 kernel or are there other possible causes to
investigate, given the fact that the glitches mentioned before do not occur
when trying the system with the coolcnc live cd?
Thanks for any insight,
Marc "frustration with RTAI compilation is me" van Doornik ;-)
