A couple months ago I installed EMC on a machine using the Live CD v2.1.3 (I
think). It worked perfectly.
Yesterday I found an old computer (Compaq presario 4505) while doing some
spring cleaning. I've got a couple mills to automate, so took the same CD,
formatted the hard drive of the computer, and went to install EMC.
It has consistantly hung in the middle of the install. I've tried almost
everything suggested in the F1 help menu. The install begins, but when it gets
to the step "Adding Live CD User" it accesses the CD for a bit then switches
back to the text screen that just has the "uncompressing linux...Ok, booting
the kernel." message and no other messages. The CD continues to access for a
while but eventually stops. I tried starting from text mode with
DEBCONF_DEBUG=5, but no debug messages appear.
Just to make sure, I downloaded 2.1.5 and it does the same thing.
Any ideas?
