Yes, for sure, to see the step pulses, he needs to be at the 
base thread rate.  I've never done that, as I use halscope 
mostly for servo tuning and want a long time record.  I guess 
the data recording thread doesn't use much resources, so it 
shouldn't be a problem to run it at the base thread rate.
