My variable pulley system has all of the components of an open-loop linear axis -- stepper, ball-screw and limit switches. I would like to use Y for spindle speed control by connecting motion.spindle-speed-out to the position command input to the axis (, then from axis to stepgen). But there is no position input to axis, other than jog, which doesn't seem appropriate. So far, in studying the hal files for threading, the only changes, are in conditioning the encoder signal and connecting it to motion.spindle-revs. Where does the magic happen where the spindle position takes control of an axis position command? Thanks.
